Miss Kelly's Classroom

Teacher:

Miss Kelly has been an educator in Central Florida for 35+ years, serving in Gen-Ed, Gifted Resource, and Full-Time Gifted classrooms.

 

Leader:

Miss Kelly has served for many years as a mentor teacher for new Gifted Ed. teachers and serves as an instructor in district-wide Gifted endorsement courses.  She facilitated a PLC for elementary Gifted educators for over a decade, and has been a presenter at the state conference for Gifted educators (FLAG).  

 

Content Creator:

Curriculum design is a particular passion. As a teacher in Gifted Education, Miss Kelly has spent over 30 years creating instructional content. Secondary to engaging with students in the classroom, Miss Kelly's greatest professional  interest is in designing and curating resources, developing activities, and implementing the Florida State Framework for Gifted Learners.  Local Gifted Ed. teachers are frequent users of Miss Kelly's content.

 

Technology:

Miss Kelly has served as a technology support in her school - assisting teachers and providing training as they integrate technology into their classrooms and instruction.   In the mid-1990's, Miss Kelly served as a teacher-trainer at the district-level in the then-new field of Internet integration.  

 

Life-Long Learner: 

Reading, connecting, exploring, reflecting...  Miss Kelly is a teacher-learner who commits herself to growing and learning, as a professional and a person. 

 

Author:

Miss Kelly has written a few books for Scholastic and Teacher Created Materials.    For many years, when internet use in classrooms was new, Deirdre was a monthly columnist for Classroom Connect, a newsletter featuring technological and instructional resources, tools, and suggestions for educators.
